Webinar Series: Becoming More Accessible to People Who Use Substances: Lessons from Women’s Shelters Canada’s Community of Practice on Harm Reduction
Are you grappling with how to best support survivors of violence who use substances? Is your shelter or transition house trying to lower barriers or apply a harm reduction lens to your work? Are you interested in how to do this, but unsure where to start? Then Women’s Shelters Canada’s upcoming three-part webinar series sharing lessons and strategies from our recent Community of Practice (CoP) on Harm Reduction and Lowering Barriers to Services in the VAW Shelter Sector is for you!
Between August 2022 and June 2024, 25 shelters and transition houses from across Canada came together in a Community of Practice to share concerns, ideas, and lessons on how to lower barriers at their shelters and best meet the needs of women and gender-diverse people who use substances and have experienced violence. Participants also undertook concrete actions to lower barriers at their shelters. This Fall, over the course of three webinars, CoP members will share what they learned and answer your questions.
