Women’s Shelters Canada (formerly the Canadian Network of Women’s Shelters & Transition Houses) collaborates with a number of partners and stakeholders. We strongly believe that coordinated efforts are required to address the complexity and pervasiveness of violence against women in Canada and around the world.

Research and Policy

Women’s Shelters Canada produces research reports, discussion papers, policy briefs, and high-level environmental scans on a variety of issues related to violence against women (VAW).

Knowledge Exchange

Women’s Shelters Canada connects shelters and shelter associations across provinces and territories, better enabling them to share practices, insights, and knowledge across the sector.

Shelters: More than a Refuge from Violence

Shelters and transition houses are much more than refuges from violence – they are places where women rebuild their lives.

Shelter Voices

Each year, WSC publishes Shelter Voices from data collected from shelters across the country, highlighting the voices behind the numbers.

WSC on the Hill

Acting as a national, unified voice for the shelter sector in Canada, WSC engages with individual MPs and Parliamentary Standing Committees on a variety of issues.
