Do you have a game plan?

It’s a heartbreaking and disturbing reality: Whether a team wins or loses, domestic violence increases by up to 33%* during major sports events.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, preparation can help. Having a Go Bag is a key part of any safety plan. It can be kept in the trunk, at an office, or with a friend – anywhere it can be grabbed quickly.

Consider packing:

Identification 

  • Passport and/or driver’s license
  • Birth certificate(s) for you and any children
  • Health card
  • Social Insurance card

 Documentation 

  • Marriage or divorce certificate
  • Custody papers
  • Vehicle registration and insurance
  • Immunization records
  • Rental agreement or house deed
  • Immigration or citizenship papers
  • Status card
  • Peace bonds and/or restraining orders

Essentials 

  • Cash and/or prepaid credit card
  • New or prepaid cellphone (charged), plus charger
  • Spare keys
  • Full tank of gas in the car

Personal Items 

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo and body wash
  • Deodorant
  • Prescription medication
  • A change of clothes
  • Any precious momentos or keepsakes
