Tracy Gierman, Executive Director
Tracy Gierman is the inaugural Executive Director of the Canadian Network of Women’s Shelters & Transition Houses, a network of the 14 provincial/territorial, regional and aboriginal sheltering organizations in Canada, representing over 350 first and second stage shelters for abused women and their children.
Tracy holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Health Studies (Health Promotion) with a minor in Management Studies and a Master of Arts in Adult Education. With 15 years of leadership experience in health care, research and NGO sectors, Tracy possesses extensive skills in network building and organizational development, along with expertise in community based research and evaluation.
Prior to joining the Network, Tracy was Interim Director of the Academic Health Council - Champlain Region, a regional partnership of universities, colleges, hospitals and health authorities committed to advancing interprofessional collaborative practice and client-centred care as an enabler of health systems improvement. Advancing women’s health and wellness is a lifelong passion for Tracy, and through contributions in various sectors and settings, Tracy has demonstrated a deep commitment to women’s issues and a vision of a world free from violence and abuse. More specifically, Tracy has implemented and evaluated women’s health programming with a focus on the health sector response to violence against women, including participation in a local DVC program and hospital-based abuse prevention initiatives.
